Feed My Sheep Team

Jesus instructed Simon Peter to “Feed my lambs” and “Take care of my sheep,” highlighting the importance of nurturing and caring for others.
— John 21:15-17

One Flock: Sheep & Shepherd

The "Feed My Sheep" team operates in and around the mountain community of Yorito, Yoro, Honduras, striving to make a long-term positive impact in the villages they serve. Feed My Sheep is not literally just giving away food. Our team participates in various ministries and seek to involve future teams in their efforts. Grounded in the belief of caring for both sheep and shepherds, they emphasize the importance of feeding the spiritually hungry.

Ways to Help Us Feed

Medical Clinics:

The team conducts medical clinics, addressing prevalent health issues such as waterborne illnesses, arthritis, and infections. They seek additional medical teams to serve in Yorito to meet the community's ongoing healthcare needs.

ASI-Yorito:

Led by coordinator Fanny Aviles, the AHMEN-SIFAT Initiative aims to empower the community through health training workshops and education programs. Monthly donations to this initiative support its long-term impact.

Clean Water:

Recognizing the critical need for clean water, the team distributes water filters to schools and individuals, working closely with local coordinator Fanny Aviles to ensure safe drinking water for the community.

Bible Classes/Evangelism:

The team distributes Spanish bibles and Christian literature, fostering the love of God and supporting local pastors in their ministry. Donations of Spanish bibles and bible aids are welcomed.

PET (Personal Energy Transportation) Distribution:

Partnering with PET International, the team provides mobility carts to individuals with walking disabilities, enhancing their mobility and quality of life. Donations towards shipping costs are appreciated.

Soup Kitchens:

The team supports soup kitchens, ensuring that hungry children receive hot meals regularly. Donations towards food supplies sustain this vital initiative.

Christmas Shoeboxes:

Hailing from Decatur, Alabama, the dedicated Feed My Sheep team operates in partnership with the United Methodist Disaster Relief Warehouse, AHMEN's storage hub for essential supplies. We proudly serve as a key resource for the Holiday Shoebox project. Whether you're a school, club, social group, Sunday School class, or church congregation, you can be part of spreading Christmas cheer to countless Honduran children. Join us in filling shoeboxes with gifts that bring immense joy to these young hearts!

Vision Ministry:

When many of us travel to Honduras for the first time we feel we are “ill trained”, not knowing what to do or how to even start. Some serve in the medical clinic pharmacy, counting pills. Others “triage” or work in the glasses clinics. Imagine the reaction of an individual who, after being fitted with glasses, says, “I can see the words in the bible now!” Currently, our team only fits patients with reading glasses and distributes sunglasses. AHMEN's Eyecare Ministry has traveled with us before, and we invite anyone trained to use their technology to join us again.
